Costa Rican rapper well known by his stage name FAKIR.
In 2010, the artist began his work with more traditional methods, recording from home where he began his passion for the genre.
FAKIR first encounter with professional production began in 2012, when he recorded with 79 records, studio owned by Andres Merino Mizu, another Costa Rican rapper. From this project emerged Campo de batalla, Falsa justicia y Madre sólo hay una, theme that would later be recorded in another version and would become one of the most popular song of his proposal.
In July on the same year FAKIR is invited to a 79 Records show and debuted on stage, this concert marked the beginning of his career in the scene.
Thereafter, FAKIR formed a project called La Alianza Conexion Tica, with MC Chama, another costarrican rapper. Both become sheathed in the recording and production of his first album titled Mixtape I.
Some events such as El Caño Festival 2013-2014, sponsored by various brands and with the support of the Municipality of Curridabat. Enamorate de tu ciududad 2013, events of the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica, as well as hip hop festivals nationally and : Union Capital 2013, Buscando la Raiz 2014 (international tour Rapsusklei recognized Spanish rapper); among others, allowed to show Alianza Conexión Tica what had to offer to lovers of urban music.
La alianza conexión tica became known to a wide audience in the national scene, allowing both rappers to develop themselves in this hip hop culture.
In 2014, released second álbum La Alianza Conexión Tica llamado ¨Alianza family colaboraciones¨ featurings by national and international media artists.
Personal projects from both rappers started recording their second album. FAKIR, released his first official video: Madre solo hay una produced by Gustavo Abarca and his team, on August 15, 2014, the audiovisual achieved a significant traffic on social networks reaching up to one thousand copies in the first 15 days and also, was included in the programming of some TV channels in Costa Rica.
Fully engulfed in his solo work, FAKIR presented in November 2014 his first as single album: ¨Los mejores días están por venir¨ produced at La fábrica de beats, with Kingstar, a veteran of the hip hop scene in Costa Rica and the participation of different artists.With this material begins a small tour of presentation that took him to Managua capital of Nicaragua, an event in which he shared the stage with local artists.
Besides the new musical material being showcased, the artist is also displaying his clothing line and branding it as “ music for your mind ”, which has caught on as his own signature symbol amongst his followers. It is the artist’ slogan or motto and the public has come to acknowledge it. “Fakir, the one being recognized entirely as music for your mind ”
Lately, this same album was nominate by ACAM (Asociacion costarricense de Músicos) as a one of the best 3 costarrican albums within the category of urban music. This entity is incharge of register all costarrican music.
For September 2015, Fakir releases his second album under two Costa Rican music labels Black Caviar and Wondrous Records, with the musical production of producer Soultwo, they released this most resent production entitled "Freedom", a fresh new proposal full of confrontational rhymes and lyrical protest, without leaving aside the conceptual "skills" of rap. With the collaboration of Orion, of the popular Venezuelan crew SPL and Gab a local artist, "Freedom" was received with acceptance and was presented in various national media outlets.
As with the first production, he begins a small local tour and for the month of November, Fakir will travel with his new album to Guatemala City, for a presentation at the Raptores Festival, a renowned event that brings together the best exponents of hip hop culture in Central America.
By 2016, Fakir started back his side by side work with Chama and they were invited to perform Alianza´s showcase at the concert in Costa Rica of the chilean raper Portavoz, a popular rapper from this new wave of latin rap. This fact that joined also the list of international concerts in Costa Rica as the one from veteran spanish raper Rapsuskeli and the venezuelan artist Lil Supa, international concerts in which Fakir has been invitated as opener artist.
By that same year, FAKIR performed leaving a very good impression with the old back punk-rock band Xpunkha at the Festival Costa Rock, if not the biggest, considered one of the most important festivals inside the rock scene. Likewise, Fakir did it with the veteran ska band Mentdos, on the first place, performing a cover from the British group The Clash, at a Tribute done by this costarrican band for Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Both concerts with no less that a thousand people, a very attractive number for the local market.
Justly by the 2017, Fakir made a feat for Mentados album, and Mala Maña was selected as the promotional single for this release, in this way, letting the raper, keep been involve and incur in other scenes and been recognized by other crowd and other target, demonstrating versatility and seriousness on his proposal.
Also, the releasing of singles like ¨Lucy bella dama¨ on hand in hand again with Enrique Castillo, in combination with Luis Angel Castro, recognized Costa Rican interpreter or Gracias Hip Hop, song produced at Wondrous Records, apart from some other featurings for local rapers.
A year after on July 2017, it comes out “De uso personal”, the third production of the artist, with a different side of Fakir. This master piece came out side by side with Make Wondah, owner and producer of Wondrous Records, and this is the beginning of the new album. With 12 tracks, including Inspirate featuring Fabrizio Walker & Pura crema with J Matz one of the new talent coming out strong in Rap tico, as the only ft on the album. “De uso personal”, let us see the emotional side of the artist, is more personal, we are watching the evolution from Musica para las mentes until today. We can find 180 grados a track produced by Ignacio Barrantes and Emocional Nocturno on this album, “Musica para la mentes”, produced by Gab, another Tico rapper, meanwhile “De uso personal” was well received by the public and the media. Later on during the creative process of this album, his dear friend and rapper MakeWondah passes away, and this album was finish by FBRK Studio. It was a very dark moment for the artist, he went away for a while. A while after back in business, FAKIR joins Perromop in Chepe Rock, a well-known festival in San Jose the capital of Costa Rica, sharing stage with international artist like Panteon Rococo y Bersuite Vergarabat.
At the end of 2017, FAKIR goes on tour with the Nicaraguan Rapper Cheyo B for “Personal”, with 3 shows in different cities in that country, adding a great experience for the costarrican artist.
By December 2018, Fakir realeased Fenix, his 4th studio album. 8 tracks that allow listeners to front a more mature lyrics and work in general terms. For this album, Fakir invited 2 young rappers that are doing a terrific job within costarrican hip hop scene. Matz for Hasta que la muerte nos separe and Negro Mendez for Bomba de Tiempo, besides Las, brasilian artist that do his thing on Traficantes de Poesía. Also, the Sax Player Carlos Mora, recorded for Aprendí.
The material has been well accepted by public and critics. Definitely, a solid and mature material.
Also, Fakir and 6 musicians, started to conform Da Rials, a back band that has been working with the rapper, transforming basic proposal into a full band show full of funk and latinamerican sounds.
FAKIR's proposal in his musical content is a clear message to prove that rap should form and contribute. The artist has formed its own style and has made an impact on the national stage, but above all, he contributes as just another artist to a scene that follows an important growth.

His rhymes are full of message about personal experiences, texts with metaphors full of sarcasm and mockery. MC Fakir, complains about situations that occur in society and government with messages of positivity, common latinamerican urban experiences and life in general, criticism and self-criticism regarding personal conflicts are easy to find in his rhymes. With social and political rap, this Emcee keeps doing his thing.
